This Girl Got A Tattoo To Show Everyone What It’s Really Like To Suffer From Depression

'I'm fine' or 'Save Me'? This tattoo has a seriously powerful message....

It takes guts to get any tattoo, but Bekah Miles’ tattoo is braver than most.

20-year-old Bekah decided to use her  tattoo to make a pretty powerful message about her struggles with depression and open a conversation about mental illness.

We Suffer From Anxiety, But Why Do We Keep It A Secret?

The design, tattooed down her right thigh says, ‘I’m fine’ to everyone else, but reads ‘Save Me’ looking down from Bekah’s point of view.

“I’m fine” / “save me” || when everyone else sees this tattoo, they’ll see “I’m fine,” but from my angle it reads “save me.” To me, it means that no matter how happy someone may appear, they could be struggling. Like myself. My battle was only diagnosed a year ago, but this is a lifelong battle. || See my Facebook for more info || #depression #tattoos #mentalillness #psychology #help #starttheconversation

“Why I got this tattoo; they are great conversation starters” says Bekah.

“This forces me to talk about my own struggle, and why the awareness of it is important.”

Depression is a subject that needs more open conversation in society

The tattoo has gained more attention than Bekah could have ever imagined, with  327,000 times, liked 403,000 times!

Depression is a subject that needs more open conversation in society and we applaud Bekah’s brave choice!

Hopefully it will both help Bekah talk about her own depression in a healthy way  and inspire others to do the same!
