California native Courtney Conologue has taken the 6* ASP Billabong Pro in Estoril, Portugal. The 18 year old ripper defeated fellow Californian Lakey Peterson in a tough final that saw less than ideal conditions (see: wind and small swell!!).
Already confident after scoring the best wave of the competition in the semi final, aggressive tactics and 2 killer backhand snaps saw Courtney cruise to victory, with a final score of 14.00, and Lakey coming in second with a 9.00 for her 2 best waves. Courtney’s now sitting tight in first place on the ASP Women’s Star rankings and was clearly stoked with her win and lookin’ forward to heading home and kicking back! : ““I feel pretty good now and it has been a crazy week and I’m stoked to be on the podium in this event. Every single heat I had to be on my toes because it was not an easy win. Now I am heading home to have some rest which I am looking forward to because it has been a long year so far.”
