As loyal visitors you might remember the Self Made campaign Bench launched last summer, looking for creative talents trying to make their dreams come true. This documentary by music video director Ben Fries follows five of them around the streets of New York to a gritty soundtrack by FaltyDL.
The SS13 seasons campaign sees the brand pack up and head to the Big Apple, the city of dreams, to hunt out the incredible people and the underground scenes that are driving the city and making great things happen. Featuring a stunning film by acclaimed music video director Ben Fries, and a bold shoot on the streets and rooftops of Brooklyn by of the moment fashion photographer, Ben Rayner.
A towering and iconic city that people flock towards to work hard and succeed, NYC was an obvious choice for the next phase of the Self Made platform. The film, a love letter to the city and a fearless manifesto of what exactly it means to be Self Made, features 5 of New York’s most exciting creatives. The video & brand book showcases rapper Kilo Kish, clothing designer Jack Greer, photographer Sunny Shokrae, sculptor Jack Henry and illustrator Jeff Henrikson. The video will be Bench’s first foray into creative film.
The three-part shoot with Ben Rayner features six street cast faces. The use of street cast models, chosen for their unique looks, cements the brand’s commitment to authenticity and supporting independent young people. Shot around Brooklyn the shoot brings Bench’s fresh spring/summer line to the urban backdrop of the city’s creative borough.
