ISPO Part 1 – what’s hot for winter 09/10

The entire snowboard industry and his dog descended on Munchen the week before last for the behemouth of all tradeshows known as ISPO (don’t ask me what it stands for other than alcohol poisoning and sleep deprivation) to see what gear we’ll be shredding in and on next winter. Four days spent covering some serious ground in the biggest exhibition centre in the world (probably) taking in the plethora of new boards / boots / binding / clothes / goggles / glasses / things you can’t even imagine, and four nights spent inhaling as much free booze as is humanly possible without hospitalization. And I’m pleased to report the future’s bright, the future’s, er, yellow?

Burton, from left to right: Going old school but super-tech at Burton AK / “The White Collection” for women, designed by Shaun White and his brother, was (surprisingly) rather fantastic. Super stylie, feminine and fashion-forward, apparently it’s what Shaun would like to see his ladies shredding in, or what girls that fancy him would wear…or something along those slightly dubious lines. / Dynasty is the inspiration for this rather fabulous B by Burton collection, heavy on the bling gold details and luxe fabrics. / A technical base-layer that looks like a checked shirt. Clever, very clever.

More Burton, from left to right: These gloves will keep the kids amused on the chairlift. Boots, covered in carnations. Stiletto bindings looked a damn sight more comfortable than your average stiletto.

Some hits from the Billabong. With Jamie Anderson’s rather snazzy pro jacket, left.

Elan’s colourful range for 09.

Good to see O’Neill continuing with the bright all-in-one next winter.

Volcom Snow keeping it jazzy. Loving the plaid thermal, and the dungarees.

Their streetwear ain’t bad either. Rave safe in that jacket kids.

Next installment tomorrow. Or maybe the day after.
