The brainchild of four seasonnaires representing three different nationalities, the first ever She Styles Spring Ride will be held in Meribel’s Moon Park, specially shaped by H05 on Wednesday March 18th. Backed by our awesome sponsors, new local snowboard shop Avalon and the worldwide brand Rip Curl, the event aims to inspire skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities to come hone their skills and throw down some tricks in a fun and friendly girls only environment. Whether you’re a total newbie or an all-weather park rat, we’re all about girls riding for the love of it and meeting others who feel the same, and we believe that this applies in the park as much as anywhere else on the mountain…
The She Styles ’day starts with a two-hour morning freestyle session, followed by a BBQ and demo and ending with an open (and optional) jam session style comp. The morning session will be hosted by pro’s and qualified instructors from local schools Magic and Cab 9, and is aimed at sharpening your skills, learning new tricks, meeting other girls to ride with and getting help with mastering a new move. The instructors will take you through your paces and show you the ins and outs of shredding the park in a fun, progressive environment.
Tired but hopefully not too bruised after the morning session, it’ll be time to sit back, relax and refuel on the BBQ. Get super motivated watching the demo from wicked local riders including skiers Camille Imbert (Nikita), Sarah Attevand (Roxy) and Iris Castaing (Rip Curl) and rider Alex Barrere (Rip Curl). While the DJ drops some sick tunes grab a quick massage from Massage Me to soothe all those aching muscles after the morning session. What more can a girl ask for hey?!
After a bit of R&R the afternoon jam-session will give you all the chance to show off the skills you’ve learnt that morning. In both the lessons and the comp entrants will be grouped according to ability, so there’s no need to be shy about those first feeble attempts to 50-50 that box or get that illusive grab down. With plenty of rad prizes up for grabs we’ll be recognising not only the sickest riders who define the term park rat and inspire us all, but the stand-out beginners, the gutsiest girls and all the craziest stacks in between! Add to this that the registration fee also enters you into a prize draw for a new deck and other goodies, and for sure no one need go home empty handed.
As the sun goes down on She Styles we’ll be heading to Avalon to get involved in some rum punch at the prize-giving. Later still we’ll regroup for a sweet little after party at the Doron Pub with plenty of stupidly good drinks offers for entrants and some wicked beats for our ladies’ listening pleasure. It’ll be time to get down on the dancefloor with your fellow riders and friends of She Styles, as we all have a drink (or two) to a day well spent…
If you wanna come jump and grind with us at She Styles please email [email protected] (website coming soon), for further info on how to register. Turn up on the day from 9am onwards to register in the Chaudanne (near the Roc de Fer lift) or directy in the Moon Park. Don’t forget to keep a beady eye out for our posters and flyers around the Three Valleys.
With big love from SHE-UNIT (a four-pronged attack for progressing female freestyle. Aiight!)
