How to Look Like You Know What’s Going Down/Up/Around: The Women’s Slopestyle Tricklist!

It’s hard enough sometimes to work out what tricks competitors are throwing on the slopestyle course but to do it first thing in the morning! Phew it’s tough being a spectator. Was that a todeo? Did she just spin 540 or 720? Was that switch?  You’ve been up since 6am to watch the blokes hit the slope, and now it’s 9am, the girls are up but your eyes are blurry and your brain is slow… Not ours though!

So as a handy guide we’ve made you a slopestyle tricklist with the top tricks to watch out for and some signature moves that are sure to go down/up/all around. Impress your friends and sound like you know all the moves…

  • Back to back 7’s

There is many a 7 in circulation in the ladies comp these days… but in Spencer O’Brien’s case it’s back-to-back 7’s. Smooth. It claimed her the bronze medal at the X Games and is her signature move. Nothing more mesmerising than watching her smoothly spin both ways…

  • Todeo

No that’s no spelling mistake, it’s a todeo, a rodeo off your toes. And Silje Norendal can do it a frontside 7 todeo at that, she showed the world at the X Games and took Gold. It’s a manoeuvre she has beautifully mastered (and a tricky one at that), Spencer O’Brien can also claim it.

  • 900

We’ve not seen it often in a girls contest, but maybe we’ll see it this Olympics. She’s got the 7’s down, but Jamie Anderson has the 900 set in her sights, will she show it today or this weekend?

  • Double Backflip

Aimee Fuller makes snowboarding look flipping fun to us and her signature move the double backflip is sure to make an appearance at the Olympics. The first lady to throw it in a comp (at the X Games Tignes last year) she has it on lock these days and it’s always a crowd pleaser! Also keep your eyes peeled for Anna Gasser’s cab double underflip.

  • Rail Manoeuvres

It’s not all about the kickers, so who’s got the moves on the rails? The features look MASSIVE even on our mac screen, but watch out for the ladies getting technical on the upper sections to get more points. New Zealand’s,  Christy Prior is worth keeping an eye on for sure in this section, if not the whole comp…

Check all these tricks off and we’ll be in for a great show! Right, ladies, lets see what you’ve got!
