After the excitement of heat 1, there was time for a cup of tea and moment of reflection before heat 2 kicked off. And it was about to hot up, with Silje Norendal, Jamie Anderson and Anna Gasser ready to take to the course…

16 year old, Ty Walker started the heat off with a injury safe run through the course, obviously to get a score on the board (her only one of the day and without it wouldn’t she make the semis). Not the most action packed start, but we didn’t have to wait long, as Anna Gasser dropped in and threw a 50-50, 50-50 180, half cab boardslide, backside 1, cab underflip, front 360, backside 360.. Wow, what a start and always amazing to see her signature cab underflip!

So a tough act to follow and it was slopestyler of the moment, Silje Norendal who had to do just that. You could clearly see the nerves in the Norwegian, as it’s not easy being the one to beat and she cracked under the pressure on the second kicker, over-rotating her 5. Her second run just as sketchy, surprise of the day, Silje doesn’t qualify for the finals. She’ll have to bring her todeo’s for Sunday’s semi!

Despite opting for the smaller side, mini Czech shredder Sarka Pancochova threw big on the kickers with a frontside 5, cab 5, followed by a 7. Her second run, not so successful as she bailed out on a 180, however it left room for a bit of play in the form of a METHOD. Everyones favourite! But she’ll still have to fight it out at Sundays semis, narrowly missing out on a top 4 spot.

Legend of the game, Cheryl Maas, who we know has moves, couldn’t quite cut it in either of her runs. But we give her massive respect for going for a 720 over the russian doll.

USA’s Karly Schorr, started out with a ‘Hi Mum’ for the camera (we’d all do it). And although she let an amazing first run slip away by sketching out on her final 3 off the end kicker, in run 2 consistent moves and a nice switch back 5 earned her a finals spot.

Another finals spot went to Swiss rider, Elena Koenz who threw a great first run with a switch back 180 into a front 7 and finally a back 3.

But it was of course, Jamie Anderson who stole the limelight initially, notching up the first over 90 of the day with a run full of 5’s- opting not to take a second run based on her not needing too (boo). But with that score, could anyone get more? Yes yes they could and that anyone was Anna Gasser. With a huger-than-huge cab under flip, front 7 and backside 3. She took the top qualifying spot and the highest score of the day! Watch out Gold medal spot, she has her eye on you…

That’s it from todays qualifying rounds with heat 2 sending Jamie Anderson, Elena Koenz, Anna Gasser and Karly Schorr straight to the finals. We can not wait until Sunday now, this was just the warm up. There is all the medals to play for and really it is anyones game still!
