Former Cooler cover star, Jamie Anderson has been referred to as the Shaun White of girls snowboarding, but obviously we disagree, because she’s a unique soul. A.k.a. the most dangerous female force of shred to be reckoned with! Since becoming the first ever women’s snowboard slopestyle Olympic champion, she has been running around the US media, appearing on chat shows such as Ellen and signing autographs. But she did find the time to answer our question filled email to find out how she’s getting… because we are as important as Ellen.

First off, biggest WELL DONE on winning Gold in slopestyle. You seemed as calm and collected as ever on the course, did you feel that way?

Once I dropped in, yes! I felt totally present, and everything went into slow motion for me.

There were a lot of comments on the course, what was your opinion on it when you first arrived?

I was a little intimidated! It was a very big and difficult course.

How did you decide on your run?

I set my mind on a challenging run, showcasing my best tricks, and just worked towards that all week. I didn’t land that specific run until my final, final run in finals!

Did you have a couple lined up to choose from?

I did a little bit easier run in qualifiers, and thought about just doing that again, but adding a 7. But ultimately, I was passionate and determined to land my most difficult run. More for myself then anything.

What are your rituals at the top of the course?

Remember to take deep breaths! I also usually have some essentials oils in my bag that I will put on to calm nerves and find peace.

What was your first ever Olympic experience like overall? What have you come away from it with.. apart from Gold?

My Olympic experience was amazing! Bringing home a gold medal definitely helps. But honestly I loved it there! The mountains are absolutely beautiful! I got to ride powder the first two days. The Black Sea was amazing, the traditional food was good plus I found a very special Temple and spiritual Russian yogi and healer. Unfortunately the one thing that was a huge upset, was seeing the natural devastation to the environment in the area…

This was the first year of Slopestyle in the Olympics. What’s your opinion on the mainstream interest in it all?

I think it was a really good turn out. People said they absolutely loved it, and I think the reviews were really good.

Whats the general vibe on snowboarding in America like right now? In Britain it’s buzzing!

People are so excited! Almost everywhere I go, people recognize me from Sochi. Snowboard slopestyle being the first event of the Olympics was huge and I think got a ton of views.

Have you enjoyed being on the chat shows such as Ellen and around the media?

Yeah, it’s been pretty crazy, but I’m enjoying and embracing it all. I know it’s going to blow over pretty fast, so I’m loving every moment…

Lake Tahoe, is above Great Britain on the medal table.. Apart from the obvious amazing mountains, how has your town produced so many Olympians do you think?

Living in a mountain town and very close community, there has always been a lot of love and support. My home mountain, Sierra at Tahoe, was my first sponsor and has helped me in so many ways to get to where I am today. Infinite love and gratitude for that resort, the community of Meyers and south Lake Tahoe and of course, my family friends, sponsors and fans!

So now you’ve got X Games Gold, Olympic Gold.. what’s the next Gold or aim for your career? Would you consider going down a different path to snowboarding?

I’m open to whatever flows. I really want to get out in the backcountry and put together a proper video segment… We will see what happens with that. And as for Korea, that’s too far away to tell! I’m living for the moment ; )

The GNU girls killed it! Are the Mervin guys celebrating? Will you get a special gold board?

Haha I’m not sure about that, but I definitely would love to go celebrate with the whole brand and team in the north west near the factory! I love it up there…

Haha I was stoked to see that Nas made a shoutout to me on twitter. I love his music, and would love to meet him someday!
