YESSS Sally Fitzgibbons! The Australian wonder surfer [read Sally Fitzgibbons’s surf fitness tips HERE] has won a second straight ASP Women’s World Title event [Sally Fitzgibbons won in Rio earlier this month], taking the win at the Fiji Pro 2014 with a victory over Stephanie Gilmore in the final. It was a crazy tight contest with Sally Fitzgibbons scoring 9.00 to Stephanie Gilmore‘s 8.73 in tough waves at the gnarly Cloudbreak reef in Fiji.
Following her win 23 year old Sally Fitzgibbons had this to say:
It was really sizeable and you just want to do it justice and push it to the limits. You get smashed across the reef but you just have to pick yourself up and get going again. Winning at Cloudbreak is such an awesome feeling.
The women had surfed epic 3 metre waves earlier in the contest though conditions had worsened for the final. Sally Fitzgibbons is now breathing down the neck of world number one and defending world champion Carissa Moore of Hawaii.
