I got my Xmas wish fulfilled this year. Being a mountain addict, the best place for me to celebrate these days is of course in the mountains. My parents and sister came to Pakistan to celebrate the holidays. They were blown away by the different culture and the to us very different ways of going about the daily life. Pakistan is an awesome place to travel, you never get bored, there’s always something to look at, and it is very very beautiful. I wanted to show them my favorite places though which are all up in the Himalayas. Luckily they agreed! All flights were cancelled due to bad weather, so we ended up driving 14 hours on really scary roads with 100 meter drops on landslide prone mountain slopes. But my parents didn’t complain once!
Well up in the northern areas, my sister and I got hold of a guide who agreed to take us up the mountains the following morning. We had a quick pre-xmas celebration with gifts and a glass of wine brought all the way from Norway with our parents, and the next day we set out on a winter trek in the Himalayas. It was freezing cold, but we had good gear.
I’ve had great use of all my Berghaus clothes in Pakistan. They’re not only warm, comfy and durable, but super light weight and therefore perfect for trekking. The steepness of the terrain in Pakistan combined with the high altitude would’ve been difficult to deal with if I’d have to carry big bulky and heavy clothes. Even my sister was so jealous that I lent her some nice Berghaus paclite, Gore Tex gear for the trek. The trip was without big events, freeze dried food for the xmas dinner, long dark cold night, snow, glacier, peaks from 4-8000 meters in 360 degrees view….so beautiful and such a nice way to celebrate xmas
