Anna Frost and Missy Gosney are some of the most legendary women we've ever come across.
The two badasses have just become the first ever women to complete Nolan’s 14, an ultra running race that covers 100 miles with participants scaling 14 14,000 foot high peaks.
The pair finished in 57 hours and 55 minutes, just 2hrs and 5 minutes under the official cut off time of 60 hours. Only 11 people in the world have ever completed this challenge!
Thirty-three year old Frost from New Zealand and Gosney, 48, from Colorado, USA are no strangers to trail running.
Just recently Frost won the Hardrock 100, a 100 mile ultramarathon race. Gosney came in close behind at fourth.
The two friends set off at the crack of dawn from Mount Massive near Leadville in Colorado on Sunday, making their way down to Mount Shavano by Tuesday.
While descending Mount Yale, hallucinations set in...
More than half of the route is off-trail and they navigate it themselves. As they have to run through the night, they only manage about half an hour sleep in total.
No step is easily won. On the second day they ran against the crack of thunder and flash of lightning. While descending Mount Yale, hallucinations set in.
“All the rocks were animals." says Anna. "Mickey Mouse was probably the craziest. There were giraffes and elephants. I saw a black koala."
These ladies have no fear, craving the feeling of been totally cut off from the world and were not thrilled that the runners in the race have to wear a tracker.
The women are estimated to have covered around 100 miles and climbed over 45,000 feet
“Nolan 14 is about being out there in the mountains," says Anna."It’s safer to have the emergency button, but it takes a lot away from the experience, too."
With no set course, Nolan's 14 can be run northbound or southbound and it's up to the runner to pick their own lines.
The women are estimated to have covered around 100 miles and climbed over 45,000 feet.
“Most people do this because it’s a pretty good test of mountain and ultra-running skills" says Missy. "It’s a little on the crazy side, but Nolan’s is a cool line. It was a fun goal."
Bow down in awe girls, we’ve found ourselves some kick-ass new role models!
