After riding some steep lines in Alaska, I ended up heading to California to shred some kickers at Snowboarder’s Miss Superpark in Squaw.
It was awesome to get lap with all the girls I don’t see that often like my Billabong team mate Jamie Anderson, or Hana Beaman, Leanne Pelosi even Gretchen Bleiler was around or meeting some younger shredders like Phoebe Novello who you can count on being part of future women’s snowboarding.
Sun was shining, snow was slushy, some were shredding the other were suntanning but most importantly there was a super good vibe! After that I got invited to Kimmy Fasani’s park shoot in Mammoth with Spencer O’Brien, Cilka Sadar and Enni Rukäjarvi. The Unbound crew had built us a sweet gap jump which was super fun to hit and the girls were killing it! Watching those girls ride gave me such great motivation!! Spencer’s switch bs5 looked so easy! Enni’s style and control over each trick was mindblowing and Kimmy’s balls into throwing those double nines was radical! Sessioning with those ladies got me pumped on shredding park again!! even if i was still shredding my AK pow board as California was not plan of my original route.
Usually at this time of the year I’m still out in the backcountry trying to find snow, and I had forgotten how fun shredding park at this time of the year could be fun and playful..
When you shred with friends in a hoodie with laughs and good vibes, nothing better to remind you how much fun snowboarding can be!
Huge THANKS to Kimmy for inviting me and hosting me so well in California!
To Snowboarder for inviting me at Miss Superpark
To Unbound for the fun kicker in Mammoth
To Richard Permin for the photos.
