We like to take our readers to the best places in the whole wide world, and since we don’t get to travel that much ourselves but the pros more than plenty, we send them out to snap a little diary of their trips to share their experience – this time skate legend Mimi Knoop and her first visit to Argentina
Words & photos by Mimi Knoop
I had never been to Argentina before this trip, so as soon as we arrived in the buzzing city of Buenos Aires, I immediately started taking photos (like I do every time I visit a new place). There was so much energy in the air, and so many things to see!
We went to a few different skate events with the Poseiden Foundation, the first being a game of S.K.A.T.E. for the girls at a local disco tech. There were so many girl skaters, most of which I had never heard of before. They seemed to have their own underground scene in South America, separate from the industry and rest of the world. I noticed instantly that these girls had an authentic, unbridled passion for skateboarding. Although I did not speak Spanish and they couldn’t speak English, we became friends instantly through the common thread of skateboarding.
I decided in that moment, that this trip was not about collecting footage or photos of myself skating; it was more about filming and shooting photos of them. The world should know these girls, and who they are!
So, below is my small collection of skate and lifestyle shots of just a few of the great people and skaters I met on my trip! Enjoy!
