Tired of self-important instructors and overbooked course, Corinne Mayhew and Louise Sharp decided to start up their own girls only surf camps in France. This year they discovered new shores with their first collaborative effort with Surf Maroc in Morocco

Our trip to Morocco was awesome! We had a super fun crew of ladies who were up for anything and took it all in their stride, progressing their surf skills and soaking up the Moroccan culture at every opportunity! The swell was fairly small the first few days which was perfect for easing everyone into it and boosting their confidence, but then the big stuff came and we all had to step it up! There is such a great selection of waves in Morocco, which meant there was something for everyone in all conditions. Sheltered beach breaks provided the perfect training ground for those who were just starting out, whilst the more advanced among us tried out a few of the famous long right-hand point breaks, which turned on towards the end of the trip. Loulou scored the wave of her life, going way bigger than she would have done in the heavier French waves! Friends had given us some essential tips before we left, so we were prepped with pairs of old flip flops and rubber booties to tackle the walk over sharp reefs to access the waves. Definitely a different setup to our normal soft, sandy beach breaks in France!
We based ourselves in Taghazout, just north of Agadir, which was a perfect way to sample life in a small fishing village, even if it was pretty touristy! The further North we drove, the more remote life became.. the terrain more rugged, with waves reeling off every corner. Amazing! The Moroccan sunsets, tagines and laid back way of life were simply idyllic and we’ll definitely be going back in the near future! Thanks to Nikita for spoiling every member of the crew with snazzy beach towels, styley teeshirts and sweet tote bags.. the girls loved it! Thanks also to Naoko from Surf Berbere who came to the beach with us most days to deliver her relaxing yoga sessions… We had a real adventure in Morocco, with great waves, sunshine, culture and most importantly, lots of laughs with an amazing crew of outgoing ladies!
Surf Affinity are planning lots of trips in 2013… Everyone is welcome! Details to come…
