Who’s Donna Carpenter, I hear you ask? She’s only the co-owner of Burton Snowboards and all-round entrepreneurial superwoman.

We spoke to her back in 2009 about how she came to found the world’s leading snowboard company. It turns out Donna wanted to be a lawyer in New York, but somewhere down the line married Jake and went on to found the European offices of Burton.

When she became a mother, the balance between work and home life became difficult. “I felt like a bad mother a lot. My son was in daycare and I had to be there at 5.30pm and if I wasn’t I’d get there and find my son sitting outside with the teacher.”

She pushed on through and has made the company a resounding success, as well as bringing up three kids incredibly well. Read her full story here.
