Bethany Hamilton Will Be Inducted Into 2017 Surfer’s Hall Of Fame This Summer

We can't think of many other people more deserving of the legendary accolade....

Bethany Hamilton has been announced as the 2017 inductee into the legendary Surfer’s Hall  Of Fame, alongside fellow surfer Mick Fanning.

The 27-year-old is one of the most well known surfers in the world, both because of her amazing talent and her particularly unique history.

In 2003, Hamilton was attacked by a shark while surf her local break and lost an arm. Not be deterred from her dream of surfing professionally, instead of giving up she carried on surfing and has gone on to be one of the greatest surfers on the planet, last year taking third place at the Fiji Women’s Pro.

“We are honored and excited to induct Bethany into the Surfers’ Hall of Fame this coming August,” says Aaron Pai, founder of Surfer’s Hall Of Fame.

“Bethany, who survived a vicious shark attack in 2003, went on to become an inspiration to millions of surfers and non-surfers alike across the globe through her story of determination, faith, and hope.”
