Corinne Evans: “Obviously girl surfers draw attention; they’re beautiful!”

Have you ever surfed a wave pool? How do you think the plans for the Wave Garden coming Bristol may affect British surfing?
I haven’t actually surfed a wave pool but I am really excited to. I’m maybe teaming up with the Wave Garden to run part of my tour there. It means that girls from inner cities can surf with me and not need to travel miles to the beach. It’s good for British surfing, especially girls’ surfing. When it comes I think you’ll be able to nail a trick in a day. That ability for extra practice regardless of conditions is going to push our surfing forward.

Do you think you’ll be surfing forever?
I definitely don’t doubt it for a second. Unless something happened that’s out of my control, I will continue to surf. I want to be that old woman you see in a swimming hat and cruising along on a longboard.

What advice would you give your 16-year-old self?
Don’t listen to any negatives that people have to say. If people say that you can’t do it, just think ‘screw you’ and want to do it even more. If I’d had that advice then I’d be doing what I do now, at a much younger age.
