Since the weather forecast is rather dull for the weekend, use this down time wisely as it will hopefully be the last rainy weekend in a long time! For example by making your very own pin hole camera to capture all the good moments that will come this summer!

You will need:
* cereal box or small/medium can (ideally with plastic lid)
* black paint
* heavy duty aluminium foil
* No. 10 sewing needle (1/75” diameter)
* black heavy weight card
* black electrical tape
* roll film or photographic paper
* safety light (or red cellophane over torch)

1. Start by spraying the inside of the cylindrical container or rectangular box with black paint.

2. Tape all the seams with black electrical tape.

3. Make an overhanging lid of tape around the edge of the lid. You’ll need to be able to remove the lid to change the film, but you need it to be light-tight when it’s closed.

4. Take some heavy-duty aluminium foil, and gently rotate a No. 10 needle in the foil to create a smooth, even pilot hole.

5. Sand with a fine grade paper if needed.

6. Drill or cut a 1/2-inch round hole in the center of the side of the box and sand off any rough cardboard edges.

7. The aluminium aperture hole should then be centred and attached using tape around the hole cut into the side of your box or container.

8. To make a shutter, cut a small piece of electrical tape and place it over your aperture hole.

9. Load the camera by placing photographic paper (under a safelight) into your container or box, and tape securely in place opposite the pinhole. Make sure your shutter flap is closed and then take the camera outside.
