Is Harry Styles Single Handedly Bringing Down SeaWorld?

The singer has created more online comments against the company with one sentence, than the whole of the eye opening documentary Blackfish.....

Sea world has had its fill of bad press over the last few years, but things have got a whole lot worse for the company over the last few months, all down to one fifth of the boy band One Direction!

Harry Styles made a shout out on stage a few weeks ago, urging fans to boycott SeaWorld if they like dophins.

The reaction to his comment has been laid out in the graph below by Credit Suisse.

We can see that the release of Blackfish created around two million mentions of SeaWorld on social media, with around 75 percent of mentions being negative and against the company.

Harry Styles on stage comment? That created two and a half million mentions with almost 90 per cent of them being against SeaWorld!it

Can it be that all the Orcas needed this entire time was a world famous teenage heart throb on their side?

Of course, this is only one way to look at it.

Harry Styles has one of the biggest online followings in the world, so his comments will reach a larger audience who are likely to share on social media in a way that many people who were affected by Blackfish won’t.

While Styles’ followers are likely to talk about it however, they’re less likely to act against SeaWorld in a proactive way.

So we’re giving all the love to Harry Styles for creating using his fame to awareness, especially with a younger demographic.

We’re not forgetting the importance however, of eye opening documentaries like Blackfish.

We would happily bet that without Blackfish, we wouldn’t be in a position where pop stars are talking about the issue at all!

So lets remember that every little helps and with every statement against SeaWorld and it’s practices, we get a step close to closing down the parks forever, and being able to #EmptyTheTanks!
