Interview by Sofie Jenkinson
Music means a lot to me. It’s a massive part of my life that I couldn’t imagine being without. Somebody asked me, “So what do you do when you’re not singing?" and I couldn’t really answer, because I don’t really do anything apart from singing and writing.
The fact that I am on my own headline tour is pretty unbelievable. Trying to soak it in and realise what’s happening around me is pretty difficult.
Working with Mario Caldato Junior was just lovely. He is a real, genuine music lover. It is such an honour to have worked with him.
I do think female musicians are treated differently. But when you watch Beyonce on stage I think she rules out any man I’ve ever seen live. Fact.
I’ve met some wicked people along the way and also seen some amazing places. I’m just in Portugal at the moment, I’ve never been here before and it’s lovely. But the best place I’ve been is, in the summer, Hossegor
I don’t love being compared because I (like many other musicians) want to make something different but I don’t mind it because that’s what people do.
It wasn’t difficult to choose between music and A-levels. Not at all. I really, really struggled at school, I’m seriously not academic.
Home is my favourite place in the world, with my family and my dog Jack.
When I’m away I miss daddy cups of tea, my parents, my sisters and my dog. But all of my friends are actually working along side with me, so that’s a massive bonus!
People are surprised by my accent; they genuinely find it very funny.
I like my music fun, honest and romantic.
I feel extremely blessed to be working with such an amazing brand, it’s amazing. I love it.
I never wear jeans, I don’t have a bum to keep them up, it’s well annoying! I always wear dresses or shorts and I love big boots and gold rings. I’m a massive fan of strange sunnies too - I collect them.
I don’t go on trends, just what looks good on me. My favourite outfit is my Quiksilver Womens parka jacket and Quiksilver Womens denim shorts.
I love to spend my days laughing.
I hope for music to be a good influence to new generations instead of sending out negative messages. I hope to make people feel wicked when listening to my music
Never take anything or anybody for granted, breathe them in there and then. Never expect anything, everyday is a bonus
I’m proud of what I’ve done so far in my music. And I’m proud of raising my dog, Jack. He is such a wicked dog and I feel partly responsible.
If I had unlimited time and big pot of gold I’d like to make a machine that brings all the people you have lost. And do up my Mum and Dad’s kitchen just the way they would like it. And then make poverty…history.
