Fashion your very own x mas cards this year – they might even serve as last minute DIY presents for distant cousins and nagging aunties…
By Kate Sutton
You will need:
*2 pieces of white card (A5)
*Pencil
*Glue
*Scissors
*Crayons and felt tips
*Old winter holiday brochure or catalogue
Fold one of your pieces of white card in half and press along the fold. Draw five rectangles along the folded edge varying in length. Cut along the lines but leave the tops uncut.
Fold the tabs between the cuts, pressing them flat, then return tabs to their original position. Open the card to 90 degrees, using your finger to push the tabs through… you will get five ‘pop up’ boxes.
Now it’s time to create your mountains. Cut out five triangles of white card in various sizes, you can use the ones along the bottom as a guide. Have fun with magazines, pens and crayons. Then glue them onto the pop-up boxes. Once your mountains are in position you can decorate the rest of the card to create your own beautiful mountain scene. You can stick extra mountains in the background, add snow, a moon or even a river.
Take your second piece of card and fold in half – this will be the outside of your card. Cover the back of the pop-up part in glue. Position inside the piece of folded card and press down. Leave to dry.
Lastly, decorate the front of your card. Now it’s ready to send!
