This Is Me: Sophia Metzler

The blogger, graphic designer and boardsports fanatic on maybes, likes and life

Interview by Anna Langer

I started the blog maybe you like because my friends always asked me “hey, where did you get this from” or “what is this?”. Whenever I told them about something I found on the internet, they wanted me to show it to them (which I totally forgot most of the times, screw me). And since I love to read blogs too, one day I had the idea to share what I like through a blog of my own and in March this year maybe you like went online. “By day” I’m a graphic designer working in Munich and the blog is a great way to do my own thing, after work. That’s also the reason why it gets a redesign so often, haha.

I also wanted to do a blog about sports for girls. There are so many fashion or beauty blogs out there, but none for girls who are interested in sport and fashion. So mine is for everyone who is into fashion, snow, lifestyle, travel, sports, photography and inspiration (boys are also welcome to read it too!).

My grandpa taught me skiing when I was 2.5 years old. Before that he carried me on his back while he was skiing. I loved it from the beginning. Growing up near the Alps with less than an hour to the mountains, you kinda have to ski or snowboard. I also did some ski races for 10 years or so, but I wasn’t too ambitious and got annoyed pretty soon, so I started to go off piste.

The content for the blog comes through browsing the internet, reading magazines or other blogs, walking through different cities and shops or just going through my grandmother’s wardrobe. Sometimes I get emails from friends, with things they think I might like. And sometimes from complete strangers too.

Social Media is a great way to share things with the world. It opens so many ways to get in touch with different people in different countries. It is the easiest way to spread your word and love, I think. But privately I don’t take it too seriously, how many Facebook friends you have is not important at all. But I am stoked about every person who “likes” my fanpage!

If I could change one thing about the wintersport scene, I’d make people pray for snow more often! Seriously. And I wish there were more girls, who are more into skiing or snowboarding. Of course there are the pro riders, but I think, most of the “normal” girls are afraid to do something a bit off and maybe stupid. They think too much. Normally I go riding with boys, it’s more skiing and less talking. But sometimes I wish some other girls would hit the snow with me. So Girls, don’t be afraid! Think of the tiny, beautiful snowflakes!

I hope in the future I can blog more and maybe do some collaborations with brands I love. And someday I wanna be able to do WHATEVER I want! But who doesn’t want that?
