Vicki Turner, illustrator, designer, maker and surfer chats life

I’m rooted to instinct.
It’s been my guide and taken me on many adventures. Costa Rica was the most awe inspiring place I’ve ever had the luck to visit. Walking through rainforests with toucans, hummingbirds, howler monkeys and giant centipedes for company. An unforgettable place. A close second, was Indonesia, where I got to ride my first wave and volunteer with the charity FNPF. They successfully brought the Bali Starling back from the brink of extinction. I think I learned more there, than anywhere. (The Shaper Image at the top of the page is inspired by my wanderings)

Of all the creative projects to date, the one I’m most proud of, was for RNLI. I designed and illustrated their confectionery range, sales increased and the range is still in store today. (Photo above)

Last year on a whim, I enrolled at Josh Long’s new Pattern School. Late 2013, I was at a crossroads. When listening to the Happy Monday podcast in Finland, I signed up and headed to North Carolina, USA out of curiosity more than anything. I was relieved to find a group of down-to-earth folk who were up to all kinds of creative goodness. I learned a heck of a lot and returned with a new adventure in my sights.

I moved back to Devon to start a creative studio and rekindle my Plucky BlogPlucky was a place to share stories and ideas that had a positive impact. With the sole purpose of bringing courageous ideas and people together. I am still overwhelmed by the generosity of those who give their time and wisdom to The Plucky Ones Q&A’s. Mickey Smith’s interview made the most impact, his talent and approach to life is something else.
