Unfortunately the opening event of the 2011 ASP World Tour has to endure its sixth consecutive lay day after the opening session last Saturday. Hopefully the rumours of a huge swell approaching on the weekend are true and competition can recommence tomorrow with Rebecca Woods (AUS), 26 battling Courtney Conlogue (AUS), 18, in the opening heat of Round 2.

“As projected, the surf has dropped again today and we’ve called competition off,” Rich Porta, ASP Head Judge, said. “The models continue to look positive for a solid swell arriving in the next day and a half and maintaining through the finish of the waiting period so we’re hopeful that this actually materializes and we get to finish in some solid surf.”
