Monster Mountain BikingWith 145 kilometres of mountain biking trails and 21 tarmac bends, la Plagne is an ideal playground for all cycling levels, offering routes for the beginner to the advanced mountain biker.
Summer 2009 sees the creation of three new amazing biking courses, the Champagny en Vanoise, a downhill mountain bike endurance route with an impressive 720 metres of vertical descent that can be reached by telecabin. The Plagne Montalbert mountain bike run that boasts banked turns, jumps and a mountain bike agility section (balance station, roundels). Montchavin-les Coches is a great option for the beginner, the bike park is complete with wooden obstacles and is open to everyone. Plagne Bellecôte is perfect for the more specialised mountain biker, with a handling zone, balance units and crossings.
2009 sees the 5th year for Urban Plagne – an event running from the 21st to the 23rd August, consisting of contests as well as BMX and skateboard demos by the pros themselves. The three day event also sees hip hop demos and online video game comps along with the Urban Plagne legendary graffiti battle sessions, where previous years have seen artists redesign the exterior of cable cars.
