Winter Dew Tour 2012 – Breckenridge

The first stop of the Winter Dew Tour kicked off the season in Breckenridge last weekend, with Kaya Turski and Jamie Anderson bagging the female freeski and snowboard slopestyle titles, while Kaitlyn Farrington and Brita Sigourney scored the superpipe.

And it was one hell of a kick off, with almost all disciplines coming to a nail-biting close up at one point during the semi or finals. Despite a great semi final, Jamie only managed to end Spencer O’Brien’s lead in her final finals run, throwing down and amazing cab 540 followed by a frontside 720 and a switch back 5 to back 5 combo.

But the half pipe final was even closer this year, with all eyes and expectations on Dew Tour champ Kelly Clark, who didn’t manage to stick to her amazing super clean usual riding and had to give up the crown to Kaitlyn’s backside to frontside 9 combo followed by backside 540, alley-oop 540 and frontside 7.

Brita on the other hand managed to take her lead from the semis straight to the freeski superpipe finals, where she convinced the juges with her run consisting of alley-oop 180, a left 900, alley-oop 540, left and right 540, capping off with a left 720.

The freeski pipe finals on the last event day had some excitement in stall again tho, with top qualifier Emilia Wint dropping down to last in the course of the contest and previous third place occupier Kaya spinning her way to the top.

But as usual, moving images speak louder (and more clearly) than words so find all the highlights below!
