Eastpak Open Tokyo Store!

Leading urban brand Eastpak, best known for its tough bags and apparel continues it’s impressive global growth by opening its first standalone store in Asia.

As part of the brand’s overall growth and development plan Eastpak continues to enhance its global reach and the new icon store in Tokyo, Japan is the brand’s first store within Asia. “Asia and especially Japan is an incredibly positive market for us that represents an area of huge potential. This store has been opened in order seize the opportunity and that potential which is presented to us,” says Eastpak GM Gilles Laumonier.

Eastpak is currently following a charged growth plan and alongside the principle objective of maintaining its strong leadership position as a premium youth lifestyle brand it has its sights set on an aggressive international growth programme into all regions including Europe & New Europe, The Americas as well as Asia.

As part of the brand building exercise in order to achieve these objectives as so support its distributors & retailers Eastpak is also selecting key cities across the globe in which to open icon stores. Tokyo was a key choice as it represents the gateway to Asia as well as being a principle hub of urban culture globally from high end designer concepts & technology to trends & street scene. The richness and diversity that can be found in the region is truly irresistible. GM Gilles Laumonier maintains that at this stage the principle objective is not for the brand to move into retail per se, but to use the channel as a tool to effectively support the overall brand message on a global scale.

The Tokyo store, which opened its doors for business this month, is located in the super trendy ‘Harajuku’ district. The 70m2 store follows the global design concept that is currently being rolled out using the brand colour palette of black, red and white and also features the red dynamic board system which Eastpak has introduced to its stores and SIS concepts.

The store offers shoppers a broad selection of Eastpak items which are displayed in an alluring gallery style.

The store will play host to a programme of Eastpak events throughout the year as well as be the launch bed for new production introductions over the seasons.
