Our former intern, writer and photographer Elisa Routa has bagged herself a spot in the Nollie Exhibition on skateboard photography in Paris starting this week, April 26th in the beautiful Canal Saint Martin quarter.
Her theme is “L’âne à log”, which is pronounced “ANALOG” in French and refers to her analogue camera. The literally translation is “the donkey with a log/surf” and so this was the idea behind her shoot: The person photographed wears a donkey mask in order to pay attention more to the way this persons skates than the details of his/her fashion style, more than the way he/she is dressed. To me, those details harm the board sport industry. The goal of the “âne à log” is to promote the anonymity in the skateboard world to the detriment of the glory, to promote the passion to the detriment of the success. My series of pictures are meant for showing a gesture/ posture rather than a person. “L’âne à Log” is intended for denouncing the stratification of some skateboarder/surfers which is, to me, sometimes ridiculous.
Go check it out if you’re anywhere near the City of Love this weekend! More info (in French) on nollie.fr
