Betties Get On Board!

Shredding Betty have announced their Second Annual Betties Get On Board! event. Following last year’s success, the date has been set for Saturday December 6th, 2008, from 8.30am-4.30pm.

The idea behind the event is to offer female snowboarders of all abilities the chance to meet up, learn new skills and make loads of new like-minded friends. So get yourself to Windham Mountain, New York, to find out what all the fuss is about.

The site is located just two hour’s drive from the New York Metro system in the Catskill Mountains and the organisers can also sort you out with transportation, so there’s no excuse for missing out.

If you fancy some hardcore riding without a load of men getting in your way, then Betties Get On Board! is right up your street. Whether you dream of catching big air, or have always wanted to give snowboarding a go but have never had the opportunity, then now’s your chance.

Not only will you have a whole lot of fun, but you will also receive the added incentive of discounted lift tickets, lessons, equipment demos and giveaways throughout the day. Regardless of whether you have been snowboarding for years or this is your first time strapping in, Betties Get On Board is a great place to learn to ride or progress your snowboarding skills, while meeting new friends for future adventures.

There will also be an opportunity to test out some of the new season’s top notch female-specific snowboarding gear, great for anyone who is thinking of splashing out on some new equipment. Several snowboard and binding companies, including Burton Snowboards, Palmer Snowboards, Capita Snowboards and Union Binding Company, will all be on-hand to offer advice.

Other event sponsors include Drop, Eesa Lux Layering, Elm Company, Lunabar, Nikita, Pom Pom Board Bom, SoBe, and Skullcandy, will be on-site giving away goodies to the ladies in attendance. Each female participant will leave with a goodie bag brimming with treats from sponsors.

If you’re feeling charitable, bring along any snowboards or winter coats that you no longer have any need for and donate them to a good cause. Shredding Betty have chosen to support the non-profit organisation, One Warm Coat, by conducting a coat drive at the event.

Make sure you book your place online at shreddingbetty.com as tickets are only available in advance – pick them up on the day at Windham Mountain. All Mountain discount lift tickets cost $50, or $75 with rental included.

If you’re new to snowboarding and fancy learning the ropes, then the discount Learn-to-Ride packages are just the thing. A Lower Mountain lift pass and beginner lesson costs $50, or $75 with rental.

Round-trip bus transportation is also available from New York City for $30 round trip/ $20 one way from NYC Ski & Board. If you can’t face a day without husbands, boyfriends, brothers, fathers, male friends and skiers then you’ll be pleased to hear that everyone is welcome.
