Now that the last resorts (apart from the glaciers of course) have closed their lifts, it’s time again to attend to our other sport loves, like kite boarding for example.
Why not start with the Kite Board Open (KBO) in Noordwijk over the Whitsun weekend, 22 to 24 May 2010, which is the biggest kitesurf event in the Netherlands. It is this part of the Kitesurf Tour Europe this year, that consists of five stops and meets the official rules of the International Kitesurf Federation (IKA). The kitesurfers will battle each other in the categories Freestyle and Course Racing, with prizes purses of 5,000 and 2,500 euros up for grabs plus valuable points for the ranking of the European Championships.
Next to the comp there will also be a huge side programme with additional activities, stands, kitesurf movie screening ‘Movies@The Beach’, a huge party on Sunday night and meet & greets with the best kitesurfers such as reigning world champion Kevin Langeree. But you can also get involved yourself and enter the free kitesurfing, surfing and stand-up paddleboarding clinics, improve your handle pass on the trampoline and or take rib rally trip to get sea-based perspective on the KBO.
And the best part of all of this is: it’s for free! This event is open to all those that enjoy the beach, waves and the sea, and want to become acquainted with this spectacular, rapidly developing sport.
