For one day only, the finest riders on the world’s wake scene will convene in Cologne, Germany, for the first international wakeboard and wakeskate contest.
On 13th September 2008, the Stadionbad Pool in Cologne will host the world premiere of the Red Bull Wake The Line contest, where the globe’s leading wakeboarders and wakeskaters will be competing for a $10,000 purse.
For the first time ever, a mobile wakeboard line system will be installed at a public outdoor pool, enabling boarders to ride the stadium pool in two directions. The resulting competition course will total 320 meters in length. Additionally, four adjacent pools will be connected by mobile ramps and rail obstacles.
Invitations to enter have been extended to 16 of Europe’s leading wakeboard athletes, as well as eight wakeskaters who will be competing side-by-side. Riders include Bernhard
Hinterberger, David Vervenne, Mike Ketelapper, as well as some young guns from the Nike6.0 Team.
This is a unique chance to see some of the best athletes in the world up-close for a whole day of wakeboarding and wakeskating action! Entry is free and doors open at 2pm so make sure you arrive early to secure a spot. And don’t plan on heading home early: the Red Bull Wake the Line after show party will kick off at 10pm at Sensor Club in Cologne with a € 6 cover at the door.
