On an overcast day at Aspen Snowmass with fresh snow on the slopes, Kelly Clark took home a prize of $10,000 for winning the third annual COVERGIRL Snow Angels Invitational superpipe competition. This was the second year in a row that Clark has taken first place in the event.
The competition was fierce; with fifteen of the world’s best women snowboarders competing on the new 22-foot Olympic-sized Superpipe in Snowmass. Stand out riders were Maddy Shafferick’s progressive tricks, like her 720 Haakonflip, Kelly Clarks ridiculously huge airs and spins, including the Barbie Style Award with a 15 foot double stiffy straight air and Ellery Hollingsworth’s sick laybacks.
Everyone had a great time even in with the grey bird conditions and the girls rolled over to the lodge to sign autographs for their fans. That was followed up by a snowy fun poolside party at the very posh new Viceroy Hotel at Aspen Snowmass.
“Having the COVERGIRL Snow Angels Invitational here in Snowmass is awesome, it’s the end of the year and it’s a low pressure environment,” says Bleiler. “It’s so amazing to bring all the girls together, and staying at the Viceroy in Snowmass is definitely the biggest treat of the this year’s event.”
