Roxy Chicken Jam 2007: Let it Snow!

Everything’s prepared for the biggest snowboard contest for girls only! The Roxy Park at Kitzsteinhorn glacier is open and the world’s best female snowboarders have already confirmed their attendance at the Roxy Chicken Jam 2007. The 5th Roxy Chicken Jam Europe will kick off on December 14-16th, where the lady snowboard elite will fight it out at the Roxy Park for their share of the €30,000 prize money and a bundle of points on the Ticket To Ride Women’s World Snowboard Tour (WTTR). There’s plenty in store for the spectators too: expect a test centre with Roxy and Quiksilver boards, movie premieres and amazing parties.

Top lady snowboarders who have confirmed their attendance at this year’s event include previous winners Cheryl Maas (NEL) and Jamie Anderson (USA), the winner of the TTR tour 2006/07 Torah Bright (AUS), Kjersti Buaas (NOR) who took third in the 2006 Olympics in Torino and Sina Candrian (SUI) who stands at fifth in the TTR tour rankings.

Swiss shredder Ursina Haller, Germany’s best slopestyle riders Sylvia Mittermueller and Conny Bleicher, Austrian locals Lisa Filzmoser and Kathrin Gappmayr, and US export Alexis Waite will also be flying in to have a bash at taking the title. Altogether, 25 invited riders – plus five qualified – will start the Roxy Chicken Jam session on Saturday 15th December, with the best eight making the super finals on Saturday afternoon.

The victory at the Roxy Chicken Jam has become even more valuable as the overall winner of the WTTR this year will take away $50,000 in prize-money at the end of the season. As the first of only five 6-star events of the tour, the Roxy Chicken Jam winner will collect loads of points for the overall ranking. In addition, she will be awarded an original Gibson guitar and the main share of the €30,000 event prize money!

The first Roxy Park worldwide makes for the perfect location for this exciting contest. “We are happy to have Kitzsteinhorn now as our event partner with the Roxy Chicken Jam 07,” says Roxy’s Winter Marketing Manager Stine Brun Kjeldaas. “Now the move to create our first snowpark in Europe on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier further strengthens our commitment to women’s snowboarding. It’s the perfect location for the perfect park, and we can’t wait to roll out our events programme for girls who want the best conditions, beautiful surroundings, and a super-tight snowpark. Let it snow!”

For this pre-Christmas fight of the snowboard queens, Zell am See-Kaprun is the ideal location, with the Roxy Park being built at 2,900m on the snow-sure Kitzsteinhorn glacier. From autumn to early summer, the 250-metre long area with 23 obstacles, eleven jumps and twelve rails and boxes offers riding pleasure for snowboarders of all skills.

As well as watching top-notch snowboarding, spectators at the Roxy Chicken Jam will also have the opportunity to do their own riding on the latest 07/08 Roxy and Quiksilver boards at the test centre. In addition, the new ‘Labor of Love’ girl snowboarding movie will première at the Roxy Chicken Jam. Watch the Labor of Love teaser here!

The party on Saturday evening is what finally makes this event really special. So bring the Xmas spirit with you and dance the night away with snowboarding’s brightest stars.
