We have already reported on Skateistan repeatedly and are very happy to announce that after the movie, they are now releasing their first book!

Skateistan: The Tale of Skateboarding in Afghanistan shares the strange and beautiful intersection of traditional Afghan society and a new generation of Afghan skateboarders and artists. Through a balanced mix of words and photographs, the book tells the tale of ‘Skateistan’, which since 2007 has taught skateboarding and creative arts to girls and boys in Kabul, Afghanistan.

And to celebrate this more than happy event, they’re having a party at the DAZ (Deutsches Architektur Zentrum), Köpenicker Straße 48/49, 10179 Berlin, Germany, on Saturday, June 9, 2012!
