While one of the biggest, most prestigious and also most important contest in Europe had to be postponed due to lack of snow in Laax last year, the 14th edition of the Burton European Open had the much more luxurious problem of too much snow this year!

Safety comes first, and hitting the Slopestyle course in these extreme weather conditions would not match Burton European Open’s security standards.

For the men this meant that semifinals winner Torstein Horgmo rode away with the victory, while for the girls all 39 semi-final contestants are winners as Burton decided to split the total prize purse between the lot, which meant they each got a nice bonus of $790 - plus a whole weekend of finest pow shredding that we couldn't be more jealous of...!

The halfpipe riding ladies braved the storm this morning and powered through to crown Arielle Gold as 2013 BEO Women's Slopestyle Champion, followed by Kelly Clark and Ellery Hollingsworth in 2nd and 3rd.
