Float Girl Snowboard Filming

Float are in Park City for a private shoot set up with the ladies at the moment. We caught up with Float rider Silvia Mittenmuller to find out what’s been going down…

VAIL, COLORADO, USA

“Hi everyone, we just wanted to touch base and release some news on the “FLOAT” film project that is currently in production for 07′-08′. We are very excited on the movement of the all female snowboard project and all the riders involvement this year. The crew is traveling around the world just as they normally would but with a more natural approach to filming; that is documenting everything along the way, the places, people etc and in the end making a film out of it. This rider driven project will promote both the active environment of women’s snowboarding as well as feature the level of women’s snowboarding today.”

Where we been this season.

“As you know the snow conditions have been extremely warm across the globe this season almost eliminating Europe’s winter season as well as low snow accumulation on both the east and west coasts of the United States. This has left a lot of film crews scrambling for good conditions to work with witch you would expect. For us we feel lucky enough to have had the opportunity to travel the North West, Colorado and much of the far east (China / Japan) for the months of January / February and have it be super productive. Colorado’s early snow fall made conditions amazing for the parks, we spent much of the first two weeks of January at Keystone Resort riding some amazing kicker lines with Silvia Mittenmuller. Silvia managed to land one of the first 900’s on film to date (FS 900 tailgrab). The North West was also super productive as well as we timed one of the better weather patterns hitting Mt.Baker Washington.”

“We than headed to China witch was super cool, our crew Laura Hadar, Marie-France Roy, Chanelle Sladics, Silvia Mittenmuller & skier GreteEliasson all really made the best of what was there to ride. The people of China pretty much let us jib or build anything we wanted, we would be building a jib and then before you new it there were a hundred Chinese men helping dig and then trying to hit the same feature not knowing how to snowboard at all, so needless to say it was good comedy. Then off to Japan, were we saw over eight feet of new snow while we staying in the town of Niseko on the north island. We had really good guides from Oakley Japan that helped out and a few Japanese riders who really stood out in the trip. Now back in the States, were working between Colorado and Idaho now making a few trip sections, Colorado park section and redneck sledding in Idaho (see link below – funny stuff). Also this month we have a trip planned for southern California incorporating surfing footage and snowboarding at Big Bear Resort.”
