You might already have heard about the European wide online petition to safe our right to water against commercialisation through private companies, but if you haven’t signed it yet, take global Earth Day as inspiration and get involved now!
Right2Water is a campaign to get the EU Commission to protect the right to water and sanitation among the basic human rights as recognised by the United Nations.
Which right now might not be a pressing issue, when you look from your screen over to the tab. But once the access and resource of water, our most important of all staple foods and basis for health, are up for grabs to be bought by whichever capitalistic company offers the most, this will be a whole different story. While the petition has long gained the required amount 1 million signatures that are necessary for a petition to be considered by the EU, the signatures have not yet come from a broad enough variety of countries, so please have a look here to check your country’s stats and spread the word in your community to help us raise our voice!
