Oh how we love to see the tables turned. In skate parks and ski resorts across Europe, guys have been spotted squeezing themselves into Nikita streetwear ‘for girls who ride’ (yes, boys, for girls who ride).
‘I’ve seen guys wearing Nikita girls’ stuff and think it’s just funny,’ says Nikita founder and designer Heida Birgisdottir. ‘I mean, girls wear guys clothing a lot! And no, I don’t have any plans to make XXL Nikita clothing for guys, Nikita is “for girls who ride”.
That said, Heida does design a limited amount of guys’ gear, called Atakin (Nikita backwards – geddit?), mainly for the guys who work on Nikita, guys in shops and boyfriends of Team Nikita. Because there ain’t much of it, it’s already seriuously hot property and we wouldn’t be surprised to see the boys putting pressure on Heida to take Atakin mainstream.
