Rip Curl Set to Launch Interactive Web-TV Site

Rip Curl is launching its very own on-line TV site, offering a video platform, which brings together the best content from the web and TV!

The channel will broadcast the best of the brand’s video on-line, with search trips to the most stunning spots on the planet, LIVE transmissions of Surf, Ski and Snowboard contests, the latest performances of the Rip Curl Team riders… and also the possibility for web-users to create their own profiles, upload their own videos, win Rip Curl products or even trips to the other side of the world! Rip Curl is offering, through this platform, a real interactivity between its team, and web-users.

“This platform not only represents the best way for Rip Curl to convey an innovative web strategy, but also a new way of thinking and planning for our trips, competitions and the entire video content that we want to put out to the board-sports community. It is now about having web-users actively participate, and offering them the latest possible content,” said Franck Goudou, Mens Marketing Manager.

The site will be launching with a great web competition, set up in collaboration with Sprite, whereby two snowboard or surf-mad web-users can win the chance to join the Rip Curl team members on two ultimate Search trips to Abkhazia or the Lofoten Islands. To take part, you have to create your own web-profile, include your video and photos, and then hope to win the maximum number of votes from other web-users and from a jury composed of members of Team Rip Curl!

Starting in February, you can follow these two amazing expeditions on-line, more-or-less live, and imagine yourself waist-deep in the immaculate Abkhazian powder, or at the foot of the Norwegian fjords.

The channel will be laucnhing on the 11th January at 11h11 GMT with a live program straight from Mick Fanning’s pad in Coolangatta! The 2007 ASP World Champ will be personal host for a live chat session and a world-wide exclusive, on-line presentation of Rip Curl’s latest production ‘Somewhere’.

See you on Friday the 11th of January on www.ripcurl.tv. Live on a computer screen near you!
