I’ve always been a pretty eco-minded chick and worry about all sorts of stuff including the state of our beloved ocean. Surfers against Sewage (SAS) are a charity based in Cornwall who does an awesome job looking after the water we play in. They campaign for clean, safe recreational water, free from sewage effluents, toxic chemicals, nuclear waste and marine litter.
The guys and girls from my home shop extreme sports shop, Turbulence, and I decided we would do our best to raise lots of money for them this year. So I carried an extra kiteboard deck, donated to me by Charlie from Flexifoil kites, to all the PKRA World Tour events so all the riders, staff and other famous faces could sign and sticker it. North Wales carpenter Derrick Link (with a little help from me!) then made an awesome frame for it with polycarbonate on both sides and a stand.
We then auctioned it on EBay with over 1000 people viewing to place a bid. The board sold for £310 on Tuesday 28th October 08, and Turbulence and I raised a total £600 for SAS this year. I plan to carry on next year and raise them a whole lot more!
