And so the Roxy Pro Biarritz draws to a close, and oh my, what an awesome few days it has been. Former World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (succeeded today by young Hawaiian ripper Carissa Moore, newly crowned women’s champ) was clearly stoked with her glorious win at the infamous women’s surf competition. After an emotional, difficult year for the 4 times World Champion, Steph cruised to a confident and brilliant victory, scoring 8 point + waves and impressing with her fluid, technical, and laid back style. Her surfing clearly demonstrated that Steph has finally gotten back into her stride, her victory made all the more sweeter by how evidently stoked she was at the prize giving. The Aussie charger had progressed smoothly through each heat, and in a tight final against Carissa, Steph’s final score of 17.27 just took the lead against Carissa’s 15.50. We’re super amped for Steph and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the next issue of Cooler !!
