It’s been a while since my last blog and I’m back in Cooler towers with a bit of a limp in my step after completing the 3 Peaks this weekend!
On the 5th May 2007 myself and a bundle of friends embarked on the 3 Peaks Challenge. For those of you that don’t know, this involves climbing the three highest peaks in the UK (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden) in 3 days – no easy feat for someone with legs as short as mine!
With snowstorms and minus-ten temperatures at the top of Ben Nevis, torrential rain and 40mph winds on Scafell Pike and getting a tad lost on Snowden, it was a blessing to make it home in one piece! After seven hours of climbing most days, followed by seven hour minibus journeys, it was an exhausting weekend but left us all with a great sense of achievement.
All money raised has been donated to Street Child Africa, a very worthy cause that helps African street children who have often been orphaned by conflict or diseases such as AIDS. Many thanks to all those who supported me.
Finally, a big thank you to Helly Hansen who kitted me out in some great all-weather gear, and also to Nike ACG and Solomon for the super-snug underlayers they donated to the group. Needless to say, the kind kit donations came in very handy.
