Planning permission has just been granted for a new £25 million holiday development at Retallack Surfside, Cornwall, which will be home to the UK’s first inland surf wave.
Comprising 100 surf pods, each with two double bedrooms, en suite bathrooms and storage for wetsuits and boards, and 125 holiday homes, Retallack Surfside will compliment the hugely successful adjoining 5-Star Retallack Resort & Spa. The resort will offer a range of accommodation, restaurants, bars, shops and leisure facilities, with building set to commence in Spring 2009 and be ready for visitors by mid-2010.
The UK’s first inland surf wave is planned to attract a large number of surfers, bodyboarders and spectators to the village each year, both from the local surfing community and wave-riders from all over Europe. The wave will enable surfers of all levels to practice and learn before attempting Cornwall’s famous surfing beaches such as Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay and will also guarantee year-round surfing when there’s a lack of swell.
In addition to surfing, a bunch of other activities including climbing, horse riding, cycling, fishing, tennis, golf, swimming, gym and spa will be available. Better start saving up!
