In an awesome and mind-boggling feat of cooperation, the fishermen in the region work as a team with the local dolphins in order for both parties to catch more food!

In the murky waters around the bay, fishing is made difficult by a lack of visibility.

The dolphins help to solve this problem, by herding the fish towards the fishermen’s nets, before giving a signal to let the fishermen know the shoals size, location and when to throw the nets into the ocean.

Locals believe that the 120 year old fishing practice is passed down from mother to calf

The fishermen gain a much more accurate chance of getting a good catch, while the dolphins can use the confusion caused by the nets to catch their own lunch.

No question about the most intelligent animal in the sea from us!

This fishing practice, while mutually beneficial, is an unlikely occurrence in the animal kingdom as most dolphins choosing to hunt solo.

This cooperation from the dolphins however, is through their own free will.

Locals believe that the 120 year old fishing practice is passed down from mother to calf, just as fishermen pass down their own fishing methods to their children.

Check out the unusual fishing team in action in the video below!

As a species, we seem so detached from nature most of the time.

It’s so great to see how we can work hand in hand with other species to live amicably if we just give it a go!
