We should all think about the way we litter the planet at all times, but sometimes it can slip your mind.
These images from photographer Christian Water serve as a stark reminder of the damage that beach littering has on the marine animals around us.
Water created these images as part of a campaign entitled The Price Of Convenience, to raise awareness and create a reaction from the general public around the issue of beach littering.
According to figures from the World Wildlife Foundation, there are approximately 8.8 million tonnes of trash currently in the world's oceans, poisoning and choking the animals that call it their home.
Plastic bags can suffocate seal pups and other animals
Water decided to create these awful images after seeing a trail of dead fish on a visit to a beach in Malaysia.
The images in his campaign show the damage of cigarette ends and general litter inside turtles, as well as a shocking picture of how discarded plastic bags can suffocate seal pups and other animals.
We congratulate Christian on taking a stand and hope that inspires others to do the same.
While these pictures are hard to look at, we need to share them as much as possible, so everyone understands the consequences of throwing that wrapper on the floor...
