World famous big-wave surfer Laird Hamilton came to writer and actor Lena Dunham’s rescue during a paddleboard race last weekend, in the most bizarre story we’ve heard all week.
The Girls writer and actor was participating in Paddle and Party for Pink, a breast cancer awareness SUP race, when windy conditions pushed her and her trainer way off course.

This is where to story got weird, as Laird Hamilton appeared out of nowhere, saved Dunham and got her back to the shore.
Dunham posted about the incident on her social media after the race.
‘I kept screaming ‘will I make it?!’
“He appeared as if from the ocean’s depths and guided me to the finish line” she says on her Instagram account.
“I kept screaming ‘will I make it?!’ like we were in a disaster movie. He said ‘yes, Lena, we will.’ Ladies, there are still a few heroes we can count on…”
While we’re happy everyone finished the race unharmed, we’ve had a bit of giggle over this ridiculous story this morning.
Back on dry land, Dunham continued with the event, going on the BCRF after party that night.
We can only guess Hamilton returned to the ocean to look out for more Hollywood stars to protect….
