‘Daring Doris’, as she’s known to friends, abseiled down a560ft-tall Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth yesterday in wind and rain!

Doris, who took up abseiling at 85, already held the current record for oldest abseiler after abseiling the same route on her 100th birthday in May 2014.

I am normally looking to see how the other person is getting on.”

“I don’t feel afraid and never have – I just have a placid nature.” she told The Guardian after the event.

“I have a look down at the crowd. I am normally looking to see how the other person is getting on.”

From now on, when we feel too tired to run in the morning or too lazy to exercise after work, we’re going to remember that there’s a 101 year old lady somewhere out there, climbing down the side of a building and lace up  our trainers!

Doris has been awarded for her work for charity through these events with an MBE and doesn’t plan to stop any time soon.

What’s she doing for her 102nd birthday next year? You guessed it, breaking that record all over again!
