Want to check the time while you're out on the water, but don't want to buy a really expensive watch?
You won't have to watch until Christmas to drop hints for one of these watches. They are all under £40 and described by the makers as 'water resistant'.
This essentially means their waterproof but they like to (understandably) cover their backs.
We can't say these watches are 100 per cent waterproof, but we've heard for a number of female surfers that they work perfectly for them.

Casio F-91W Watch
We've heard dozens of recommendations and Casio always comes out on top for bargain price watch.
It does say it's only water resistant but we've heard from a number of women that they wear it surfing - and it's totally fine. It also comes in black if you don't fancy a pink watch.
So it's a risk - but for £7.99, we're willing to give it a try.

Breo Roam Elite Watch
If you're looking for a watch that's super lightweight and easy to hide in your wetsuit sleeve, this could be the one for you.
It's water resistant up to 5ATM, which means it should survive a 50m dive. It's built for swimming, surfing and scuba diving - and at this price, who could say no?

Lorus Ladies' Digital Watch
It's not got an altometer or tide times - but for under twenty quid, this is an ace watch to use in the ocean.
The rubber strap has a buckle clasp, which again means it's less likely to be yanked off your wrist easily. It's also water resistant up to 100m!
It also has an alarm, so you can set that beeper for when you need to paddle back in to get to work!

Swatch De Travers Watch
It's not quite as cheap as the others, but we loved the look of this Swatch watch.
It's water resistant up to 30m - and ideal for travelling.
Analogue watches are easier to change than digital ones, as buttons start to suffer after a lot of use in the water.

Kahuna Sports Watch
They don't make watches like this classic from Kahuna anymore.
It's not their newest model but it's definitely a favourite among female surfers.
Why? Well it's sturdy, bright blue (hard to lose) and the velcro strap means it's much harder for it to fall off your wrist when you wipe out.
