Cooler x O’Neill – Jessica Piper

The moment we’ve all been waiting for… Cooler x O’Neill ambassador Jessica Piper introducing herself:

What’s up!! I’m Jess, I live down in the deep South and I’m part of this motley crew. I was fortunate enough to have grown up with a really RAD group of people, everything from graphic designers, skaters, printers and musicians, all from our humble shores. We’re over 20 strong and between us contribute to everything that is our SOUTHCOAST Collective.

Founded in late 2011 sat in my best friend’s Mazda, we grafted the idea from there on out. It started to fill a gap in our wardrobes and has escalated into so much more. Man Up Girl! is street and skatewear for women, we shape everything in-house, from illustration to printing, if it’s not passed through at least four of us, it just ain’t cricket.

Our HQ is held up by my first lady of the same name, Jess. Ever cautious with the numbers and our inner workings we run Man Up Girl! together. She’s fanatical about her cat who spends most of his time with his teeth around my toes! Here they both are: Jess = Bad Bitch and Pookie = veeeerrry suspicious… →

We’re just in the final stages of our online shop going live, with more than a little for everyone! (updates here) We’ve got samples and prints rolling in & out the studio regularly as we get closer and closer to the launch! We don’t do your average promo, we’re mad into GIFS and tactile flickbooks for a heavy dose of fun skimming and dizzy viewing.

I spend a lot of my time being real messy, screen printing, drawing jelly monsters and sending countless emails to friends & idiots alike. This week was friend week; So I went and hung out with our Bellevue Bros to rinse the ink and ride the Riso! Only after I got over the need to convert everything into strictly blue, black and red were we able to set up & print our ad for Cooler’s next issue.

I fill my in-between moments with skating, hott weather, crew, jazz n’ bone crushing Hip Hop, fonts, and elaborate card making (please see below). I’m Spanish too so I love to get out to my second Southern hometown, Granada, as often as I can to see la familia! I’m stoked to be working with Cooler again, everything we do with these guys always hits the spot, and with the O’Neill lot on-board it’ll be hakuna matata no doubt!
