Becca Allen is feeding housemate Aline Bock "hippy caviar" and making some beautiful food art in the process...

This is a blog post dedicated to the lovers of porridge and a post to convert the many porridge haters of the world. I have yet to meet anyone who eats or loves porridge as much as I do. Most screw their faces up to the idea, or now that I live in Austria people I meet don't even know what "Porridge" is!

So yeah here are some photos of my best work, one of Aline happily stuffing her face with my blueberry mix and some tips on how to make a super healthy porridge! This will probably be my only food post, I am not a good cook I could easily just live of porridge.

Ingredients I use to make blueberry and banana porridge:

porridge ingredients

Fine oats - not rolled

Rice milk (optional - I just used water)

Pumpkin seeds

Cinnamon

Blueberries

Chopped banana

Organic coconut blossom nectar (you can use honey or brown sugar)

Chia seeds

I always soak my oats and pumpkin seeds in a pan of water the night before I cook them which makes them easier to digest.

In the morning I turn my hob on low start stirring, add a few shakes of cinnamon, a handful of blueberries and some coconut nectar to sweeten it. I add more hot water as it thickens and when it's nice, thick and creamy (I also like my porridge like thick wall paper paste) I serve it up in my bowl, lob a dollop of cold soaked chia seeds on top and scatter my chopped banana.

I chose not to cook the banana as I don't like them to go mushy. I also plop a serving of Chia seeds onto the top as they are so good for you, check here

I have a bowl of soaked chia seeds in the fridge so I just add a spoonful every morning. Or as Aline calls is "What is this bowl of caviar in the fridge!?"

I am now feeding it down Alines neck, making her try my weird hippy "caviar" but it doesn't seem like she's putting up a fight…read her ever so professional write up on our breakfast this morning…

" I first found it really funny that Becca prepares her breakfast every night, "soaking her oats", until she made me eat it one breakfast and I actually realised this stuff is pretty good and healthy and keeps me going through the day without being hungry two hours later..it tastes great too!"

Please let me know if anyone try this and like it so I know it's not just me having weird taste buds and Aline not wanting to offend me.
